Random thoughts:
Do paedophiles get turned on by diaper advertisements?
Science: Past performance is not indicative of future returns.
Somehow the Binomial Distribution reminds me of the Beta Function and the Poisson Distribution reminds me of the Gamma Function. I wonder what the Normal Distribution is supposed to remind me of.
If Meritocracy means, "If you work hard, you will be rewarded.", then it implies that "if you are not rewarded, then you didn't work hard." Not a comforting thought. Suppose Meritocracy means, "If you do not work hard, then you will not be rewarded.", then it implies that "Even if you work hard, you might not be rewarded." Not a comforting thought either. Of course, you could say that Meritocracy means "If you work hard enough, you would be duly rewarded." That would mean that if you are not happy with what you get despite what you have put in, you think too highly of your own efforts or that your expectations are too high, and you shouldn't complain. Awesome! That's the way to keep people working hard no matter what they get at the end of the day.
