Interesting conversation today with a stranger.

As I walked home, I saw a lady without an umbrella. It was raining, and it so happened that my umbrella was already open, so I sheltered her from the rain for a while. It turned out that she had an umbrella, but for some reason she decided to walk out of the shelter before taking out her umbrella. Here is the conversation that follows.

Lady (hereafter L): Are you a Christian?
Me (hereafter Y): No.
L: Buddhist?
Y: No.
L: Then which religion are you?
Y: Atheist.
L: Sorry? (Not her fault, it was raining and I didn't speak clearly)
Y: Free thinker.
L: Oh, I thought you were a Christian, since you were so kind.
Y: (Smiles. It's nice being a black swan)
L: Do you go to church?
Y: No.
L: Is your mother a free thinker?
Y: She's a Christian.
L: Oh, then why aren't you a Christian?
Y: She didn't convert me. Actually, my sisters went to church school when they were young, because we lived near a church school. After we moved here, there aren't any church schools nearby, so I don't go to church school.
L: Ahh. (pauses for a while) You should have a religion.
Y: (pauses for one full minute) Why do you say that?
L: (Honestly speaking I forgot her answer. After that, she said:) Are you in secondary one?
Y: No, I'm J2!
L: Oh, which school are you from?
Y: RJ.
(I'll skip this part, it's not very interesting)
L: What did you get for PSLE? 270+?
Y: 268.
(I'll skip this part too, for similar reasons as above)
L: Then you must thank God.
Y: (smiles. I can't think of a better response to that.) My primary school drills students very hard, and the teachers are very dedicated.
L: Ahh, then you are lucky.
Y: Yar.

Actually the conversation didn't end there, but there really isn't anything more that is interesting.

Really, it feels great to be a black swan.
