Phew, the second physics paper wasn't too bad after all. But then, everyone thinks so too, so I can't say too much.

It's kinda strange that in most cases, where a large group of people compete, it's nice enough just to be able to do well on absolute terms; as long as I'm satisfied with my performance it's likely that I'll be able to get a grade that I'm happy with. It is not so immediately obvious that we are actually competing with one another to get grades higher relative to one another. I mean, we are all aiming for A's, something that can be judged absolutely, and it is not necessary for some people to do badly in order for others to do well, so we can selflessly help each other to achieve their personal best.

However, when 14 people vie for the top 8 places, it starts to become noticeable that in order to be the top 8, there needs to be at least 6 people who are not doing as well as you... the prospect of that is really scary, especially when you've seen all the people following the lesson and knowing how to do every question that you can do.

But oh wells! The selection is over! I'm quite happy with my performance so far, but I don't know how I'm doing relative to the rest. Wish me lots and lots and lots of good luck.
