hmm... i walked past an osim store today.

i was thinking what it would feel like to use iGallop and uZap simultaneuously.

i laughed my ass off right on the spot.

indeed. so a theist can openly express his faith, and everyone else is supposed to respect that for "religions are sensitive issues". and yet the faith of a solipcist is considered disrespectful?

i do not see the importance of religious tolerance. i see how respecting other people's faith is critical to my survival and my well being. i see that might makes right.

indeed the time has come where we are allowed to question more. still, we are supposed to ask what the teacher want us to ask. nothing more, preferably nothing less. it seems contradictory to the idea of thinking out of the box. but, oh well, they give the grades, they call the shots, and so we shall obey, or we land into some kind of trouble.

i remember in p6 science prelims, there was an mcq question that contained a circuit. the circuit had the wire coiled around an iron nail, a wooden doll, and a part of straight wire. the question asked, which one of the above would attract paper clips? well, being the honest me i chose "iron nail and wooden doll". WRONG. answer is iron nail only. i was quite indignant, i showed a book i borrowed from the library and told the teacher that the wire coil would act as a solenoid, and it can still attract paperclips. "well, you are not supposed to know that anyway." indeed. and i didn't get my marks.

i remember in sec 2 exam, there was an mcq question that asks if a fish in water directly underneath a fly would see the fly as nearer, farther, or same distance away. i chose farther, because a fly still has positive horizonal dimensions, and a fish has two eyes. WRONG. the answer is "same distance away". why? i asked the teacher. i had no chance to speak. "i had told you so many times that when you are directly above you cannot tell the distance, and you got it wrong and serves you right!" next year i clarified the answer with my sec 3 physics relief teacher. he said that my answer was correct. and of course i never got my marks back.

i remember my sec 4 math performance task asking us for the velocity of a spaceship in terms of light years per hour. and no, the answer was not in decimal point with many zeroes in front. it was around 44 light years per hour. when i saw that question i immediately knew that it is physically wrong. oh well, they are math teachers and they probably know about the theory of relativity. it is a math question, not a science question, and i didn't like the idea of challenging a question that accounts for 40% of the marks for a performance task and getting it wrong "because you are not expected to know that", or "because you are supposed to apply what you have learnt". so i faithfully did the question, and got an answer that defies science.

and guess what? people who pointed out that the question is wrong got 2 bonus marks.

oh well, those we give the marks call the shots. whether "they" value creativity, or understanding of the syllabus, or the courage to stand up for the truth, ultimately your teacher decides your score.

indeed, such is the case, based on my experiences.

my mother cooked spinach today. i suddenly got reminded of the popeye cartoon.

maybe after the weights room briefing i packet one can of spinach to school everyday...
libing said something extremely quotable today.

and inspired by jimr's tag, i shall post it!

LB: "why are u going on a diet? at this age it would make u shorter."
me: "i'm not missing out on anything. i'll drink milk for the food i'm not eating."
LB: "you can't get everything from milk!"
me: "milk is a complete food!"
LB: "nonsense."
me: "well babies drink milk and they grow so fast!"
LB: "you are not a baby. and besides they drink human milk. so it won't work unless u get someone... nvm."

ok i should say something.

i usually don't say anything if i have nothing to say. but this is an exception. so is this. so is this. so is this.

there are some things that can be said to certain people, some things that cannot be said to certain people. This is due to the fact that some people get offended very easily, and some people dislike you already and are just searching for things to pick on. And being an online thing anybody can read so the offensiveness has to be set at the upper limit of the most buaysong people in the world. Which basically means u can't say anything you really want to say. Not many things i want to say can be said to everyone. (well some can, but they are generally not interesting, and u can find them on wikipedia anyway)

but so far, nobody hates me yet. and i don't want to limit my already very limited social circle by telling the whole world who i dislike and why. generally ppl's attitude towards me is neutral. not too bad. better than some people already.

things are looking pretty good. dun feel busy yet. every day is fun and joy. but yang tong is giving me lots of stress. he can do china olympiad physics and chemistry questions already. if all china scholars liddat then i no hope liao.

5 random things about myself.

1. I am considering going on a diet.

Oh yes regarding that there is this guy from H1 econs who is ULTRA handsome (1.1). dunno his name doh. he's not from ri. and he wears rj uniform. Another guy whom i think is really handsome is shi kai (1.4), the catholic high guy in my OG. really can't help taking a few more glances at them.

3. I think every subject (except pw) i'm taking in jc is quite fun.

4. From sec 1 to now i only slept in class/lectures 3 times. HAHA BEAT THAT.

man orientation ends liddat... sigh.

somehow i have this feeling that i have rarely had before. some sorta sense of belonging to a group. the last time i had this feeling was after NUS-X games, where the team of four spent 3 days building a car, a top and a quite a few bridges for a competition. On the day before competition, we worked on these from 11am to 9++pm and even elango gave us suggestions on how to improve our designs. it was still not finished and we all had to go home. when we reached home we immediately signed in on msn and discussed further and split the work, then we reported on our progress until 2 am. next morning before competition we went to the competition grounds early to test our designs and also to discuss strategies. ri sent two teams, my team and the other team won first and second respectively. our team nearly got a grand slam. after the competition, it was all back to studies and other cca.

perhaps that doesn't sound as exciting as j1 orientation. but then i feel that that competition gave the closest feeling i have to what i am feeling now. it feels like an exciting contrast to what i do all the time, a different kind of joy from what i get from playing games or reading. it feels as though a void in me i never discovered before had been filled up, and now it is draining away.

i haven't found myself fitting into any other group as well as science club. those people are however always busy. my OG is a fun OG, but there isn't much for me to do or say in the group when we just sit together with nothing to do.

perhaps orientation hasn't ended. but it will and must end sometime, before we all go back to mugging. i think i would remember it.
so far 3 ppl have expressed dislike for 1337sp34k. i should stop.

I am 92% loser. What about you? Click here to find out!
wheee orientation was really fun. sad that it's over so soon. our z'oggles, eric and yacong were really great. can't describe how. they made the OG mix around more, which was a great thing. both of them are sorta unique. yacong has a cute voice. and eric is hard to miss.

our OG is generally quite enthu. no cynnical people. people are really trying to mix around, have fun together, get the tasks done and more. and i got cured of my jitters talking to girls. yayness!!11! that's a lot more people to talk to!

and oh my oh my the batch song and batch dance song are ringing in my head.

i could talk about each day seperately.

day 1. admin stuff for a looong time. ice breakers to learn each other's names. learnt that calling someone's name is a more effective way of getting attention than patting the shoulders, and that shaving cream is cool. played zhong1 ji2 mi4 ma3 after dinner at S11. tio 2 times out of about 6 times and ate some some weird.. stuff. bleagh.

day 2. first assembly. went for KI test, which was pretty fun. didn't know that so many people would take KI. learnt parts of the batch dance, which was pretty cool. chose cheryl neo(sooo cute ^^) as dance partner. OG had dinner at big MACs. no space so had to make do with a tray between 2 tables. after a while it really felt like a table. yacong tried to trick shi kai to touch the chilli sauce and ketchup but it backfired becos shi kai the wushu boy has lightning reflexes.

day 3. first encounter with the class. classroom at 7th floor!!!! which means i climb 7 flights of stairs everyday...(7 flights because after first floor it is lvl 1M then lvl 2) kao. all the LTs are on lvl 1M or lvl 2 or 3 which means more climbing. but oh well, we get a nice view of bishan. kin wai, zeyan, shaosheng, aroon and !!!kar wai!!! in my class. looks like a mugger class to me, so it should be fine. interesting thing: there are 3 melissas in my class. the civics/chemistry teacher is a nice guy.

outdoor is pretty nice. got to know huiling better since she was my buddy. after that storyline and dinner and more dancing. and more dancing. learnt that i dance very badly.

day 4. "This is a mother-big war game." YES INDEED. never seen a war game played with like 200 ppl on the field. 5 factions free-for-all. covered my feet with mud so that i have no ph34rzzz of dirt later on. morrison-richardson got their asses raped by "the houses" alliance before half time, after which the alliance would break. even the alliance got cheer one lor.

Loser. Loser.
Small loser, big loser, bigger loser, you.
Welcome to loserland.
Population one.
You.
Loser.

Actually the alliance was generally in favour of buckle-buckley and moor-tarbet, since they don't share a frontline with morrison-richardson and thus don't get attacked at all. clever.

After half-time i developed a plan. go on all fours and just pure pk. none of the girls liked this idea so i went with yiqin. yiqin didn't go on all fours, but he did a wonderful job defending the balloon. kill ratio 5:1. destroyed 3 moor-tarbet couple and 1 buckle-buckley couple even though we got gangbanged. zai-ness. (the idea is that ppl unwilling to go on all fours are scared of dirt. so even if the balloon is far away, when u pull one of them down, they would have to shift their base forward to maintain stable equilibrium. thus the balloon goes within grasp.) we also ks-ed a lot. see 1-v-1? sneak to the back and pounce. rah. got myself pretty dirty. but it was extremely fun.

then came the caterpillar game. i have absolutely no idea what happened since i was blindfolded.

last war game was kinda... weird. there were almost no rules. do something to impress the OGLs and get balloons. tie ankle with one of the opposote sex and run around with a tail and grab other ppl's tails. once i got gangbanged by 3 groups and my reflexes was just to hop around and dodge and duck and twist away, dragging huiling(my partner) off by the ankle, and twisted her ankle. :( really sorry huiling.

found out that everyone who went for the KI test got in. -.- oh well the questions were fun to do.

went to thompson plaza and had lunch and tok kok. no i didn't tok kok, but was listening to gar geoi and ming fang and xavier talk about mahjong and dogs. felt like some bomb sitting there doing nothing. wasted 2 hours liddat.

the OGL item was quite funny.

King Kong: "ARGHHHH YOU GRABBED MY FLAG! I'M GONNA KILL YOU! RAHHHH!"
Barney: "But... you can't kill me. I love you."
Everyone: "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family. With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too."

Gandalf playing the shaving cream game, and the MJ and oompa lumpa spaghetti game was also really funny.

Buckle-buckley had the best item IMO, but i heard it offended some teachers. Perhaps the "your royal *ahem* " was too outright. but the "oh yes, hydrainus, you are right, can we join you?" was an amazing twist of the plot!! it rocked!!

Hadley-hullett's item was outright offensive. suan every jc until liddat. aiyoh. they deserved to get last lah. and i saw huishan act as the AC guy's girlfriend... haha. But not to say it isn't funny doh. i enjoyed this part especially:

Narrator: "How many (.censored.) students does it take to change a lightbulb?"
Girl: "We like the lights off."
Boy: "When the lights turn off, I turn on!"

roflmao.

And Onite ended just like that.

Later we met for supper. by the time Eric and yacong arrived only 4 were left. others had to go because of the bus, or because their parents were coming to fetch them. The chatterboxes were gone, and it was really quiet. Then we left.
