thought of the day: if a rocket follows projectile motion laws with no air resistance with a graph of y=x², by increasing the height of the platform it is launched on, how much farther will it travel?
a. square root fo height
b. square of height

"The joy of capitalism" by Steven E Plaut is a good book. everyone should read it.

dicto simplicitor. if you are spotted reading it in a communist country you are as good as dead.

well okay. it is a fun book. it teaches you about capitalism and why communism is not good. like it said, communism will not work, and it didn't, and also how government intervention is mostly bad for the economy.

hasty generalisation. just because it seems right about these two point doesn't mean that this whole book is accurate.

ok, so i am in a weird mood. i am thinking about everything in terms of material gains. which is not bad. must be because of "The Joy of Capitalism".

post hoc. your view on the society hasn't got much to do with the book. in fact the book isn't even about that.

wtf i am countering all my own points on why i like "The Joy of Capitalism". i am really bored. but i got a shit lot to do. crap lot of hmwk, a quiz coming up 2 weeks later, a big event nex saturday....argh...so busy and still thinking about it coz its such a nice book. no, but seriously it is a good book.

et miseri cordiam. you are trying to ask ppl to read this book by gaining sympathy. ur busy-ness has got nothing to do with the credibility of this book.

FUCK LAH. just read it. it is good. esp for jimr who has been brainwashed by communists. i am brainwashed by capitalists. lets share ideas.

okay so i shall tok abt today.

i believe i can make a general statement that it is generally not easy to seoi nage ppl who are shorter than you. the shorter the harder. uchikomi and nagekomi was dramatically easier on miki. who is also shorter than me(sorry lah jimr...stating a fact)

today the training program was like yesterday. except that during the reaction practice because there was too much stoning. so we got 10 reverse push-ups, 10 diamond reverse, 10 wide arm reverse, one round front crawl, three rounds frog jumps, one round front crawl, three round frog jumps, then ten reverse push ups again. GREAT WARM-UP for the arms. i was slacking by spreading my legs. slacker me. seemed to give me an edge during randori today though.

today randori was nice. got beaten by miki and yongsheng and guxin. then decided to test makikomi on garry and hey it worked! and i proceeded to test on bryan. beat him 3-2 or 2-1. can't remember. heck, i beat him^^. almost beat timo. drew wif zhang xing. then last bout played wif emmy. threw him twice in exchange of getting thrown about 7 times. okay lar, he let me one... can tell from his continous use of uchimata when his flying seoi nage would work fine. mebbe he wasn't in the thrashing mood today.

strangely i was able to pull ppl towards me today. quite surprised when i managed to pull yongsheng in. i think it could be because the front crawls gave me a nice warm-up for my arms. or maybe everyone's else's arms are shagged while mine wasn't because of slacking.

hehee... on the upward cycle!! starting to enjoy randori!!! good sign!!!

after randori i left early for some science-interact club thing. called the RI-MINDS carnival. which was very screwed up. supposedly we are to launch rockets at 15 minute intervals from 11 am to 1pm.

then i reached to podium at 11am. one science club guy was there. he said he dunno wad i am supposed to do and asked me to look for alex. who happens to be a photographer. which means he could be anywhere in RI. so i spent 20 mins looking for him. found him. he told me to look for wenwei. who is also missing. so i walked around asking ppl where wenwei is. "there! he's there!" and i go there cannot find him, only to find a guy to claims he is in the opposite direction. they rock.

by the time i found wenwei it was about 12 noon. he told me the prob was that mrs yau ,who has the launcher, is not here. so we called a chem teacher and asked her to help us take out the launcher. she took quite some time. and there was no pump. how nice. so we waited for mrs yau. she came at 12.20 and said she didn't have the pump. so we borrowed one from the maintenance dept and set off to test. finshed testing at 12.35. then waited at the podium, while we got ready to launch. then the boss(chairman of science club) said "make there aren't any stupid idiots standing in front of the launcher(fyi, the launcher can launch a 1.5 kg rocket to a distance of 150 metres away)". and i made a not-very-kind comment:"but like you said they are stupid idiots"

so we waited. and they announced at 12.45pm that we will launch at 1pm. how nice. despite constant yelling and warning and signalling not to stand in front of the launcher many ppl were still standing in front of the launcher. which was pumped up to a nice 80 psi(max 110 psi, which is quite dangerous...). one person even kicked it. seems that they are not in MINDS for no reason.

so we finally launched it. they were awe-strucken by the champion launcher. one minds boy(who kicked the launcher just now, fyi) insisted on pulling the trigger, when the rocket was not pumped up at all. okay...so we let him pull it, and "surprisingly" it didn't fly. cool. then he yanked it even harder. still no result. he seemed to realise then something was different about the launcher. he still insisted on holding on to the trigger. as you may know, one cannot pump and launch a rocket at the same time. so we tried to ask him to let go. he wouldn't. so with the great help of a minds staff we managed to launch the second rocket. yay. keep stuff go home.

dats about it.

thought of the day: does relativistic mass affect gravity and inertia?

a guy travels at a very fast speed(like 0.5c ), and his twin stays on earth. by right, when he returns to earth after a while, he should appear younger than his twin. however, from his frame of motion, the twin on earth is travelling much faster than him! but why is he experiencing time dilation, and not his twin?

quote of the day: "ting yong, hurry!!!" rilong and hanlong

"when two guys sleep with their legs touching each other, there is some sorta bond formed...okay...no matter what way i say it it sounds damn gay" hanlong

yay. i am improving in judo. but science is still so damn daunting to me...bleagh. electron oscilloscope...theory of relativity...

oh yes. alwyn revealed to me his wish to disprove the thoery of relativity. i revealed his wish to the power sci club guy pangwei. and he said"have fun man. do you know that the theory of relativity is derived from electron*blah blah blah* and magnetic*blah blah* interfering with*blah blah* resulting in *blah blah blah* and thus *blah blah blah*"

silence.

then pangwei asked"have he read the article?" i said"unlikely, he doesn't noe length contraction" "ohohoho... he'll have a great deal of fun"

okay...

oh well. managed to throw the sec 2s.(yes, this is the first time i am able to throw sec 2s, thats how bad i am) sode rox. got my knee injured by yongsheng who threw me out of the dojo and landed my kne on the wooden floor. ouch. still hurting now. and got totally thrashed by richard. i dun remember being that badly thrashed by lincoln.

so. i need---strength; agility(a big shit to train) ; accuracy(a devil to train too). and must remember not to put the feet to close to each other.

thoughts for the day: suppose u have the same power regardless of position and you can jump infinitely high. which of the following will cause a greater impact on the ground?
a)a medicine ball thrown up to the sky then smacked down at maximum point;
b)a medicine ball thrown up to the sky then smacked down at terminal velocity.

i personally think it is b. what sayeth thee?

so training...same thing, but mr tan was talking about eyeball. interesting. shud learn from huang. then during randori stare at the chest when u r actually looking at the whole situation. theoritically shud work better with girls. practically shud be bad for the eyes and shud not be used on ppl with long fingernails.

after that we went to lincoln's house. lincoln was especially hospitable and generous, while alwyn was being a master koper. what to say? its like a dative bond. one give and one take. and we are checking the history on lincoln's browser. full of interesting links. now i think i noe why lincoln was okay in gym, okay with tv, but *screwed* up his knee in bed(which fyi is very close to the comp).

tomolo is saturday training. joseph has gotten to know this scadal. now the whole world will noe.

quotes of the day:
"tell lah. my conscience is clear." lincoln, when joseph tried to blackmail him

"FREE WILLY!!! oh no that's a whale..." alwyn, when he was ransacking throgh lincoln's cds.

"I don't play fps(first person shooter)." alwyn, straight after he koped 6-7 fps game cds.

" 'What women want'. is that a movie?"alwyn "Nononono, its a game" yours truly

interesting though to think of a game made from the concept of "what women want"....hmmm..... and there was a sex scene in "what women want".lincoln, jimr and alwyn refuse to believe me THERE REALLY IS!!! someone pls clear my name. I EVEN WATCHED IT WITH MY PARENTS OKAY. if lincoln is observant enuff and he watches the vcd again, he will find out that i am telling the truth. the version i was watching was broadcast on channel 5. hao liao. you can ask me what it was like. i can tell you that it has *almost* no nudity.

and smart lincoln set his comp's internet content adviser's to level 4 for sex and nudity and set a password that he didn't even know. VERY SMART.

****
adjust the slider to set the content which the users are allowed to see.

****
and smart lincoln set his comp's internet content adviser's to level 4(highest level) for sex(explicit sexual activity) and nudity(proactive display of frontal nudity) and set a password that he didn't even know. VERY SMART. his mother will huggle him when she see the settings.

and we koped two bowls of bowl noodles. good stuff. ate quite a lot.

the trip was worth it. next time lets go again!!

so it is nearing the end of the holidays and i have not touched my homework. how great.

lately i have thought about this: if a person does his homework very fast in the early holidays, he will take approx. 12 hours to complete(3 days, 4 hours), but if a person does his homework very fast on the last day+first day of school, he will be able to complete the same amount in 4-5 hours. unmatched effeciency. so why start early?

lately making progress in randori. not a lot, still cannot beat my fellow sec 3s fair and square, but progress is progress. take one step at a time(no pun intended). anyway i am getting thrown much less now. anyway, i am currently in fear of alwyn, whose shoulders looks wide and it is quite daunting to move towards him, even though there is not much danger involved.

yesterday my randori was crap. was like half asleep, was seeing stars, was kinda dehydrated...not really in tip-top condition, even though the previous exercise wasn't that tiring. guess i am pampered by all that water breaks. after that the newbies came and train and we stoned and watched the SEA games video with mr tan's wife's(note: not mr tan's, it's his wife's)ps1 and saw emerson play. then free practice(=some stoning). then came spring cleaning. interesting that the floor is full of long hair, more than short ones it seems. makes me wonder why we are the ones cleaning them =E. then the judo training place was converted from one two same dojos to one big dojo. now i guess front crawls and prawn crawls and *gasp* bouncing will be two mats longer... and shiai will indeed be facinating.

after that went for bio QTT while my other comrades set off to enjoy their lunch... for the first half of the QTT, which i missed for judo(due to the knowledge that i will certainly fall asleep during bio QTT), dr lee taught us evolution. boohoo...fun topic man. then i went in in time to learn taxonomy. quite interesting too. later we were shown some samples and we were told to identify their phlya and their class... blah. and i broke a jar of earthworms that i believe is at least 10 years old. it contained a lot of earthworms and some stinky preserative, which dr lee said was carcinogenic!!!then i used a dry cloth to soak up the shit and washed it thoroughly under te sink. so thorough that i cut my finger witha glass shred. imagine the carcinogens, earthworm eggs going in.... then dr lee asked me to wash my wound and plastered it. and the rest were like telling me to look after my wound. (mr xu was telling me the high possibilty of the jar containing eathworm eggs, and that eggs can remain dormiant even in the preservative for a long time) cool stuff.

gotta clear my breakfast. and it is 5.45 pm now. pro me.

stuff i did on the last day of term:

1. supported tennis match. RI won against ACS(I).

there were 5 matches in the tennis competition, then ri won two matches and acsi won one, so we went to watch one of them, and ri won that one, so ri secured the win. so stuart went behind the last acsi guy playing the last game, and that guy was matched with the ri guy. later, when the ri guy scored, he shouted "go! come on acsi, you can still win...OOPS!"like damn loud... and some idiots shouted "CLB" at them. disgrace....stuart one was quite smart, but the "CLB" was a tad too far i think....

2. crushed a can with my hands to 2cm height =)

3. squated for 2 minutes in the bus

4. sang "song that never ends" for 1 1/2 hour continuously ALONE. stuart and teh zhi hao threatened to beat me up. twice. lost my voice and i couldn't cheer for the house. damn smart....

5. hullett got thrashed today, and bayley rocked the school, but we still lost... thanks to the u14 and u17.... nah, WE lost, we lost, and so we lost. so what.

hullett will have a 85-95% chance of winning the interhouse science quiz. they are lucky to have one pro sec one guy whom mr xu wei zhen said "would thrash even the sec 3s combined together, and we will send him to quizzes instead of the sec threes, if he learns enough math".

the other 5% goes to moor house, that has khoo seng teck(who will love the programmer of the quiz, yiyuan, and loves bomb bags, and can count three).

i have thought about this for the past one year, and i have come to a few conclusions about life and descision making.

1. All beings avoid punishment and are attracted to rewards.
2. Punishment would include physical punishment, reduce in rewards, guilt, apprehension of punishment, and increase in punishment; rewards include physical/material reward, reduce in punishment(including guilt), expectation of reward, and increase in rewards.
3. All decisions are made to ultimately benefit oneself.

so far, i have yet to come across any exceptions. please enlighten me if u do not agree, and if u can think of an example.

i rock.

well, IME rox. the professor there really rocks... he is so good to us that i feel damn guilty every time he is nice to us. he always asks if we've had our lunch... then if we haven't he'd ask us to eat first. i feel very bad.... like i am just a sec 3 student, while he is a professor of IME and we are like... late for meeting everytime. we are really quite behind the rgs ppl in this project. (sidenote: i see no rgs ppl there. maybe their research education is allocated on another day?)

today's randori was not bad. manged to throw rilong and yaozhen(by tyconess). able to avoid getting swept by brother yao, but not brother zhang. dunno why, but it seems that i can avoid getting swept when i bend my back like tony lee. brother zhang didn't gimme time to bend back. anyway, my gi is like... skrewed. the lapel is like seperated from the gi, and my whole body is full of cotten shreds. then kumikata is like "zzzzzt...zzzt" esp jimr and brother zhang.

left tai otoshi and seoi nage are useful (almost threw rilong and yao zhen agian with it!). i should learn them well. anyway today my stomach quite gassy, so not really in the mood the practice spring hip.

and today lincoln and mitchell are announced to be prefects. rejoice.

lincoln stripped himself and got held by richard and alwyn and jimr. timo put some chilli sauce onto his back. he loved it. there are intentions to present him with chilli padi on april 17th. i am certain he would love it more. conc Fisherman's Friend solution would greatly compliment it.

SteelWings
You have wings of STEEL. No one's really
sure why, but at this point in your life you've
shut off emotion to the point of extreme
apathy. You are cold and indifferent much of
the time...or perhaps you're just a good
pretender. Next to impossible to get close to,
even those who do never see the real you. It's
entirely possible that YOU don't even know the
real you. You have a certain fascination or
attraction to destruction on a massive scale -
disasters, perhaps even death or the concept of
the Apocalypse. Because you hold so much
inside, one day you're simply going to snap.
Then the mask will fall away, and your true
wings will be revealed. Until then you will
deal with whatever comes your way in icy bitter
silence and acceptance. On the positive side,
you are fearless and immeasurably strong - not
much can crack through your defenses. You
intrigue people, who can't help but wonder why
you're the way you are. A loner and one who
spends much of their time brooding and
contemplating life and death - you are a time
bomb waiting to explode and create some
destruction of your own.

today's training was quite fun. a bit of warm up then- i hr randori! not exactly non-stop, or else i wud die. we had break at the 8th round... about 40 minutes. so i found out that it is more effective and less tiring to play relaxed, back straight and looking at the shoulders instead of the lapel. and the fighting mentality makes quite abit of difference. before, my mentality was- get a grip. enter. now my mentality is - just get him down. second one works better too.

jimr is training my spring hip seoi nage. i have to admit that it is especially effective to train seoi nage with him.*grin* my goal is to be able to use spring hip during randori by june. i now believe i do have potential...next up would be to train. randori rox(i used to hate randori cos stiffening up is a painful and tiring randoriing experience).

well, then we did some ...erm...weird exercises. like human bench press(the best part is when your arms feels like shit, then u finish).... climbing round the tree....(which most of us were unable to do) and 150 rolling pushups. must admit though, that i am getting unfit, i am feeling tired quite easily. but then... did my 2.4km in 11mins40secs. not bad for a person who entered ri with a timing of 16 minute sumthing. and i didn't pia.
